ghostBLOCK
GhostMem — a local-first MCP memory server for Claude Code, opencode, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
Overview
From the repository's own README, as read at the audited commit. Badges and raw HTML are left out.
A local-first MCP memory server for Claude Code, opencode, Cursor, and any MCP client. One memory across clients, in one SQLite file you own.
GhostMem remembers project knowledge between agent sessions. It stores memories, tasks, and decisions locally, searches them with SQLite FTS5 and optional local embeddings, and works with the MCP clients you already use.
- Local by default: one SQLite database; no account, cloud service, or required vector database.
- Cross-client: Claude Code, opencode, Codex, Goose, Cursor, and other MCP clients can share the same memory.
- Graceful degradation: Ollama is optional. Without it, GhostMem still provides full-text search.
- Transparent lifecycle: consolidation, resolution, and supersession are dry-run by default and can be undone or disabled.

Why GhostMem?
Most agent memory is trapped inside one product. GhostMem provides one portable memory layer:
Native memory features are useful inside their own products. GhostMem

Questions
What is the ghost MCP server?
GhostMem — a local-first MCP memory server for Claude Code, opencode, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
What tools does ghost expose?
1 in total: 0 read-only, 1 that write, and 0 that can delete or overwrite. Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is ghost safe to connect to an agent?
No — not without reading the findings first. The audit graded it F (36/100) and found 7 critical or high issues in the source. Each one is listed on this page with the file and line it is on.
What credentials does ghost need?
It reads ANTHROPIC_API_KEY and OPENAI_API_KEY from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.
How does ghost run?
It speaks stdio and streamable-http, so it runs as a local process your client starts.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (490a2126a26d), read on 2026-10-11. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
