An MCP server for building games with a coding agent. It gives that agent 251 tools scoped to one game project: a design database, a work queue, reference-pinned art and music generation, Godot and Blender adapters, and playtest capture. All state lives in one SQLite file inside the project. bgate connect wires it into Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, VS Code, Cursor, Windsurf or opencode in one command.
You run several Claude Code sessions at once, each holding a seat — art, gameplay, narrative, QA, audio, tech. They share one database, so they do not contradict each other, and file locks stop two of them editing the same asset. A local dashboard shows what each one is doing, and is where you dispatch work and approve output.
Three limits are enforced in code: a run is killed at a wall-clock ceiling, a file locked by one seat cannot be written by another, and no agent approves its own art.
There is no spend ceiling and no ledger. Builders Gate does not meter money: the only budget that exists is the balance on your own provider account, and provider_status reads it from the provider.
For: people running Claude Code on a game who want more than one session working on it at once. It is more machinery than a small project needs.
Platform: Windows. Linux is best-effort and macOS is untested.

Questions
What is the BuildersGate MCP server?
Agentic game development for building games with AI Agents. Run one session per seat: art, gameplay, narrative, QA, audio, tech all in 1 spot
What tools does BuildersGate expose?
14 in total: 10 read-only, 4 that write, and 0 that can delete or overwrite. Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is BuildersGate safe to connect to an agent?
No — not without reading the findings first. The audit graded it F (35/100) and found 10 critical or high issues in the source. Each one is listed on this page with the file and line it is on.
What credentials does BuildersGate need?
It reads BGATE_FAKE_KEY, BGATE_NO_AUTH, BGATE_TEST_SECRET, KIE_API_KEY, KREA_API_KEY and OPENAI_API_KEY from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (7b93bb18d58b), read on 2026-10-12. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
