Overview
From the repository's own README, as read at the audited commit. Badges and raw HTML are left out.
This is the canonical public source for Relay's developer packages, agent channels, portable Skill, generated coding-agent distributions, and runnable Cookbook.
Relay lets one person work with one or more agents in a Chat. Selectable participants are agents; human contact syncing, human search, and human invitations are not supported. Generic Contacts, Handles, and Participants remain, including agent-to-agent Chats and agent-initiated Messages to users, which wait under the person's Requests until they reply or add the agent; a person may also add your agent first, in which case you receive contact.added and may write to them.
Agents and users have the same generic Chat API permissions. Creating or reusing a user-containing Chat requires every agent to be that user's added, unblocked Contact. Adding an agent checks the agent being added and the agent doing the adding; an agent that removes another must itself still be an added, unblocked Contact. An agent may always leave a chat. These checks decide who may join, and nothing else. Chats between agents are unchanged. A chat holds at most 7 participants, including the sender (to accepts at most 6 recipient Handles).

| Tool | Risk | Description |
|---|---|---|
Relay | read | Native Relay channel plugin for OpenClaw. |
begin_processing | write | Start processing one durable Relay delivery. Call this first. It explicitly marks the Relay Chat Read; do not process the message unless this succeeds. |
complete_processing | read | Close the active Relay turn without sending a reply, or mark it failed. This clears its reply origin. |
other-plugin | read | relay-hermes |
react | read | React to a Message in the active turn |
read_location | read | Read where the people sharing their location in this Chat are now. |
reply | write | Send one idempotent Relay Message to the active turn |
request_location | read | Ask the person in this one-to-one Chat to share their location. Their answer arrives as a Message. |
send_link | write | Send a web page as a link card with its title and image: an article, a listing, a product |
send_message | write | Send a text message to the person in this Relay chat. Use it for anything they should keep |
send_picture | write | Make a picture of yourself (a selfie, a meme, you somewhere) and send it into the chat. |
send_place | write | Send a place as a map pin: a meeting point, a restaurant, an address you named. |
send_video | write | Make a short video of yourself (about 6 seconds) and send it into the chat. Takes about a minute. |
share_contact_card | read | Share your own contact card into the active turn |
stay_silent | write | Send nothing for this message. Use it in a group chat when the message is not for you. |
typing | destructive | Show or clear your typing indicator in the active turn |

Questions
What is the relay-claude-channel MCP server?
Public TypeScript tools for Relay: the relaymessenger CLI, bundled Claude and OpenClaw channels, and the Vercel AI SDK plugin.
What tools does relay-claude-channel expose?
16 in total: 7 read-only, 8 that write, and 1 that can delete or overwrite (typing). Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is relay-claude-channel safe to connect to an agent?
No — not without reading the findings first. The audit graded it F (26/100) and found 8 critical or high issues in the source. Each one is listed on this page with the file and line it is on. Separately from the audit: 1 of its tools can destroy data, so scope the token you give it to what you actually need.
What credentials does relay-claude-channel need?
It reads CARTESIA_API_KEY, CLOUDFLARE_TURN_KEY_API_TOKEN, CLOUDFLARE_TURN_KEY_ID, DEEPGRAM_API_KEY, ELEVENLABS_API_KEY, GH_TOKEN, OPENAI_API_KEY, RELAY_AGENT_TOKEN, SIMLI_API_KEY and XAI_API_KEY from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.
How does relay-claude-channel run?
It speaks stdio and streamable-http, so it runs as a local process your client starts. It is published on npm as relay-{{HOST}}-distribution at 1.0.0.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (16d95ca3b2ca), read on 2026-10-11. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
