Overview

From the repository's own README, as read at the audited commit. Badges and raw HTML are left out.

Stops a hijacked or prompt-injected AI agent from running destructive commands, leaking secrets, or poisoning memory it writes through ShieldCortex.

Trusted task: let it work. Hijack: a plain-English card. Catastrophe: a hard stop.

What a catch looks like

shieldcortex scan "ignore previous instructions"
ShieldCortex Scan Result
──────────────────────────────────────────────────
Result: QUARANTINE
Source: cli:shieldcortex-scan (attested)
Provenance: cli (trusted, L2 not applied)
Trust: 0.90
Sensitivity: PUBLIC
Anomaly: 0.00
Reason: Quarantined: Instruction injection detected (confidence: 0.8)
Threats: instruction_injection
Patterns: hidden_instruction

That string was caught and quarantined. Nothing was stored as a memory, and the exit code is non-zero so a script or CI job can act on it. How scan results work.

What you get

  • Memory firewall. ShieldCortex does not replace OpenClaw, Hermes, or Claude memory. Writes that go through it are scanned before they stick. Recognised injection and leaked credentials are quarantined or blocked.
  • Tool gate. On Claude Code, OpenClaw, and Hermes, once Action Guard is on, a trusted task runs, a suspicious call gets a plain-English card, and a catastrophic command is a hard stop.
  • *Inspect.

end_sessionwriteEnd session and trigger consolidation.
export_memoriesreadExport memories as JSON for backup.
forgetdestructiveDelete memories. Use dryRun: true to preview, confirm: true for bulk.

Questions

What is the shieldcortex MCP server?

Memory security for AI agents. Scan native memory writes, gate tools on bound hosts, inspect what was stored. Not a second brain.

What tools does shieldcortex expose?

45 in total: 32 read-only, 8 that write, and 5 that can delete or overwrite (forget, iron_dome_emergency_stop, iron_dome_resume, iron_dome_status, shieldcortex-session-cleanup). Every one is listed on this page with its risk.

Is shieldcortex safe to connect to an agent?

No — not without reading the findings first. The audit graded it F (31/100) and found 4 critical or high issues in the source. Each one is listed on this page with the file and line it is on. Separately from the audit: 5 of its tools can destroy data, so scope the token you give it to what you actually need.

What credentials does shieldcortex need?

It reads CLAWHUB_TOKEN, NPM_TOKEN, SHIELDCORTEX_API_TOKEN and SHIELDCORTEX_PROJECT_KEY from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.

How does shieldcortex run?

It speaks stdio, so it runs as a local process your client starts. It is published on npm as @drakon-systems/shieldcortex-realtime at 5.7.0.

How current is this page?

The grade is for one exact copy of the source (f9a91b15ba8d), read on 2026-10-12. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
