Doppler MCP ServerSAFE
Overview
From the repository's own README, as read at the audited commit. Badges and raw HTML are left out.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that provides AI assistants with access to the Doppler API for secrets management.
[!IMPORTANT] The Doppler MCP Server is experimental and intended for development, testing, and evaluation purposes. Because outputs are non-deterministic and vary with the connected model, query, and server configuration, always use a token scoped only to the actions, projects, and environments you intend to allow, and review agentic output for alignment with your security and compliance requirements.
Quick Start
1. Authenticate:
npx @dopplerhq/mcp-server login
2. Add to your MCP client configuration (e.g., Claude Desktop):
{
"mcpServers": {
"doppler": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@dopplerhq/mcp-server"]
}
}
}With Service Token
Alternatively, use a service token instead of logging in:
{
"mcpServers": {
"doppler": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@dopplerhq/mcp-server"],
"env": {
"DOPPLER_TOKEN": ""
}
}
}
}See Service Tokens to create a config-scoped token.
Commands
login Authenticate with Doppler (interactive) logout Clear cached auth credentials
Options
--read-only Only expose read operations (GET endpoints) --project Override auto-detected project --config Override auto-detected config --verbose, -v Enable verbose logging to stderr -h, --help Show help message
Examples
Read-only mode
{
"mcpServers": {
"doppler": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@dopplerhq/mcp-server", "--read-only"]
}
}
}Restrict to a specific project:
{
"mcpServers": {
"doppler": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "@dopplerhq/mcp-server", "--project", "my-app"]
}
}
}*

Questions
What tools does @dopplerhq/mcp-server expose?
2 in total: 2 read-only, 0 that write, and 0 that can delete or overwrite. Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is @dopplerhq/mcp-server safe to connect to an agent?
The audit found nothing in the source that contradicts what it says it does, and graded it B (89/100). Grade A is held back for packages that have also passed a sandboxed behavioural run, which is why a clean server reads B.
What credentials does @dopplerhq/mcp-server need?
It reads DOPPLER_TOKEN from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (30efdca1821e), read on 2026-10-12. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
