EvernoteSAFE
MCP server for Evernote integration with note management and synchronization
Overview
From the repository's own README, as read at the audited commit. Badges and raw HTML are left out.

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides seamless integration with Evernote for note management, organization, and knowledge capture. Works with both Claude Code and Claude Desktop.
⚠️ No API Key? Use Browser Cookie Auth
Evernote stopped issuing new developer API keys. If you are a new user and cannot obtain a Consumer Key/Secret, skip the standard OAuth setup and use the cookie-based authentication method instead — no API key required.
Installation Requirements
Node.js
Supported Node.js: `>=20.16.0 =22.3.0`. In practice that means Node 20.16+, 22.3+, 24, or newer — the two gaps are Node 21.x and Node 22.0–22.2. This is not an arbitrary floor: it mirrors the engines range that the PDF attachment extraction path (pdf-parse, and its pdfjs-dist transitive dependency) actually declares, and the range is genuinely disjoint.
Check with node --version. On Node 18 or 21, or on 22.0–22.2, upgrade before installing — Node 21 reached end-of-life in June 2024, and 22.3+ supersedes the early 22 patches.
Upgrading from 1.x? 2.0.0 raises the Node requirement from 18.18.0 and changes evernote_get_resource to return extracted text by default instead of binary data. The tool surface was also consolidated from 27 tools to 15 — the retired names still work as deprecated aliases, so existing calls keep running. See MIGRATION.md.For Claude Desktop Users:
- OAuth Authentication Required: Yes, run the auth command once (prompts for API keys)
- Repository Download: No, you can use npx directly from npm
- API Credentials: The auth script will prompt you for your Evernote API keys
- Simple Setup: Jus

Built from this server's own package name, version and transport as found in its source — not copied from anyone's documentation, so it cannot drift against a page we do not control. Replace the environment placeholders with a token scoped to the least it needs.

Questions
What is the Evernote MCP server?
MCP server for Evernote integration with note management and synchronization
What tools does Evernote expose?
29 in total: 17 read-only, 10 that write, and 2 that can delete or overwrite (evernote_delete_note, evernote_revoke_auth). Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is Evernote safe to connect to an agent?
The audit found nothing in the source that contradicts what it says it does, and graded it B (89/100). Grade A is held back for packages that have also passed a sandboxed behavioural run, which is why a clean server reads B. Separately from the audit: 2 of its tools can destroy data, so scope the token you give it to what you actually need.
What credentials does Evernote need?
It reads EVERNOTE_ACCESS_TOKEN, EVERNOTE_CONSUMER_KEY, EVERNOTE_CONSUMER_SECRET, EVERNOTE_WEBHOOK_SECRET, OAUTH_CALLBACK_PORT, OAUTH_NOTESTORE_URL, OAUTH_TOKEN, OAUTH_USER_ID and OAUTH_WEBAPI_URL from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.
How does Evernote run?
It speaks stdio, so it runs as a local process your client starts. It is published on npm as @verygoodplugins/mcp-evernote at 2.0.0.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (9e00ffcf2e83), read on 2026-10-08. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
