Built from this server's own package name, version and transport as found in its source — not copied from anyone's documentation, so it cannot drift against a page we do not control. Replace the environment placeholders with a token scoped to the least it needs.

9 read · 1 write · 2 destructive. Blast radius: 2 tools can delete or overwrite — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling this one.
| Tool | Risk | Description |
|---|---|---|
delete_learning | destructive | Permanently delete a learning. Prefer mark_learning_stale to keep history. |
get_accounts | read | Get all connected bank accounts with balances |
get_balances | read | Get current balances across all accounts with net worth calculation. Auto-syncs with Plaid if data is stale. |
get_learning | read | Step 2 of memory retrieval. Load the full markdown content of a specific learning by ID. Call search_learnings first to find relevant IDs. |
get_monthly_comparison | read | Compare income vs spending month over month. Returns raw totals including all categories. Transfer amounts are broken out separately so the intelligence layer can determine which are internal vs external. Auto-syncs with Plaid if data is stale. |
get_spending_summary | read | |
get_transactions | read | Get financial transactions with optional filters. Returns CSV by default for compact output. Auto-syncs with Plaid if data is stale. |
mark_learning_stale | read | Mark a learning as stale/outdated. Excluded from default searches but kept for history. |
save_learning | write | Save a financial learning. IMPORTANT: Before creating a new learning, always call search_learnings first to check if a similar one exists. If it does, pass the existing ID to update it instead of creating a duplicate. |
search_learnings | read | |
search_transactions | read | Search transactions by merchant name or description. Returns CSV by default. Auto-syncs with Plaid if data is stale. |
sync_transactions | destructive | Force sync all connected bank accounts with Plaid to get latest transactions and balances |

Questions
What is the fino MCP server?
Track personal finances locally with AI, connect bank accounts, analyze spending, and chat with Claude while keeping data on your machine
What tools does fino expose?
12 in total: 9 read-only, 1 that write, and 2 that can delete or overwrite (delete_learning, sync_transactions). Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is fino safe to connect to an agent?
The audit found nothing in the source that contradicts what it says it does, and graded it B (89/100). Grade A is held back for packages that have also passed a sandboxed behavioural run, which is why a clean server reads B. Separately from the audit: 2 of its tools can destroy data, so scope the token you give it to what you actually need.
What credentials does fino need?
It reads ENCRYPTION_KEY and PLAID_SECRET from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.
How does fino run?
It speaks stdio, so it runs as a local process your client starts. It is published on npm as fino at 1.0.0.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (dfff59d20bd9), read on 2026-10-11. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
