Features
Tools
rpc_call- Call arbitrary JSON-RPC methods- Specify server URL, method name, and parameters
- Returns JSON-formatted results
rpc_discover- Discover available JSON-RPC methods- Uses OpenRPC's
rpc.discoverspecification - Lists all methods on a given server
Development
Install dependencies:
npm install
Build the server:
npm run build
For development with auto-rebuild:
npm run watch
Installation
To use with Claude Desktop, add the server config:
On MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
{
"mcpServers": {
"openrpc": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "openrpc-mcp-server"]
}
}
}Debugging
Since MCP servers communicate over stdio, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using the MCP Inspector:
npm run inspector
The Inspector will provide a URL to access debugging tools in your browser.

Questions
What is the OpenRPC MCP server?
A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides JSON-RPC functionality through OpenRPC.
What tools does OpenRPC expose?
2 in total: 2 read-only, 0 that write, and 0 that can delete or overwrite. Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is OpenRPC safe to connect to an agent?
The audit found nothing in the source that contradicts what it says it does, and graded it B (89/100). Grade A is held back for packages that have also passed a sandboxed behavioural run, which is why a clean server reads B.
What credentials does OpenRPC need?
No credential environment variables were found in its source, so it appears to need none.
How does OpenRPC run?
It speaks stdio, so it runs as a local process your client starts. It is published on npm as openrpc-mcp-server at 0.1.2.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (1bc16eecc2c8), read on 2026-10-08. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
