Overview

From the repository's own README, as read at the audited commit. Badges and raw HTML are left out.

A simple template for creating custom tools for Cursor IDE using Model Context Protocol (MCP). Create your own repository from this template, modify the tools, and connect them to your Cursor IDE.

Quick Start

  1. Click "Deploy to Heroku" button

  1. After deployment, configure Cursor:
  2. Open Cursor Settings → Features
  3. Add new MCP server
  4. Use your Heroku URL with /sse path (e.g., https://.herokuapp.com/sse)
  1. Test your agent's mood in Cursor:
  2. Ask your agent "Please ask about our server mood and let me know how it is."
  3. The server will respond with a cheerful message and a heart ❤️

Alternative Setup Methods

You can run the server in three ways: using Docker, traditional Python setup, or directly in Cursor IDE.

Docker Setup

The project includes Docker support for easy deployment:

  1. Initial setup:
# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/kirill-markin/weaviate-mcp-server.git
cd weaviate-mcp-server

# Create environment file
cp .env.example .env
  1. Build and run using Docker Compose:
# Build and start the server
docker compose up --build -d

# View logs
docker compose logs -f

# Check server status
docker compose ps

# Stop the server
docker compose down
  1. The server will be available at:
  2. SSE endpoint: http://localhost:8000/sse
  1. Quick test:
# Test the server endpoint
curl -i http://localhost:8000/sse
  1. Connect to Cursor IDE:
  2. Open Cursor Settings → Features
  3. Add new MCP server
  4. Type: Select "sse"
  5. URL: Enter http://localhost:8000/sse

Traditional Setup

First, install the uv package manager:

# Install uv on macOS
brew install uv
# Or install via pip (any OS)
pip install uv

Connect

Built from this server's own package name, version and transport as found in its source — not copied from anyone's documentation, so it cannot drift against a page we do not control.

Questions

What is the Example MCP server?

A ready-to-use MCP (Model Context Protocol) server template for extending Cursor IDE with custom tools. Deploy your own server to Heroku with one click, create custom commands, and enhance your Cursor IDE experience. Perfect for developers who want to add their own tools and commands to Cursor IDE w

What tools does Example expose?

2 in total: 2 read-only, 0 that write, and 0 that can delete or overwrite. Every one is listed on this page with its risk.

Is Example safe to connect to an agent?

The audit found nothing in the source that contradicts what it says it does, and graded it B (89/100). Grade A is held back for packages that have also passed a sandboxed behavioural run, which is why a clean server reads B.

What credentials does Example need?

No credential environment variables were found in its source, so it appears to need none.

How does Example run?

It speaks stdio, so it runs as a local process your client starts. It is published on PyPI as mcp-simple-tool.

How current is this page?

The grade is for one exact copy of the source (34de2f7cb8c2), read on 2026-10-08. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
