Removed in 0.6.0 — `get-recommendations`. Spotify deprecated/v1/recommendationson 27 November 2024, along with related-artists, audio-features, audio-analysis, featured-playlists and 30-second preview URLs. Apps created after that date get403 Forbidden, and apps still in development mode lost access too, so the tool could not work for essentially anyone. Usesearch-spotifyandget-top-tracksinstead. See Spotify's announcement.
Features
- Spotify authentication
- Search for tracks, albums, artists, and playlists
- Playback control (play, pause, next, previous)
- Full playlist management (create, update, delete, reorde

Questions
What is the Claude Spotify MCP server?
An integration that allows Claude Desktop to interact with Spotify using the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
What tools does Claude Spotify expose?
19 in total: 13 read-only, 4 that write, and 2 that can delete or overwrite (delete-playlist, remove-tracks-from-playlist). Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is Claude Spotify safe to connect to an agent?
With care. The audit graded it B (89/100) and found 7 things worth knowing before you trust this server, listed below with the exact line each was found on. Separately from the audit: 2 of its tools can destroy data, so scope the token you give it to what you actually need.
What credentials does Claude Spotify need?
It reads AUTH_BIND_HOST, SPOTIFY_AUTO_AUTH and SPOTIFY_CLIENT_SECRET from the environment. Give it a token scoped to the least it needs — an agent that can be talked into calling a tool can be talked into calling it with your credentials.
How does Claude Spotify run?
It speaks stdio, so it runs as a local process your client starts. It is published on npm as mcp-claude-spotify at 0.7.0.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (d0da00d448b7), read on 2026-10-08. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
