Welcome. If your laptop fans are screaming, your disk is mysteriously full, and you have a dozen agent worktrees you're afraid to delete — chaff is for you. It looks at everything your toolchains leave behind, works out what is still alive, and tells you exactly what each cleanup would cost before it touches anything.

Questions
What is the chaff MCP server?
Separate the live work from the dead weight on a developer machine: build daemons, caches, build output and stale git worktrees, with tiered safe cleanup. CLI, Claude Code plugin and MCP server.
What tools does chaff expose?
6 in total: 5 read-only, 1 that write, and 0 that can delete or overwrite. Every one is listed on this page with its risk.
Is chaff safe to connect to an agent?
The audit found nothing in the source that contradicts what it says it does, and graded it B (89/100). Grade A is held back for packages that have also passed a sandboxed behavioural run, which is why a clean server reads B.
What credentials does chaff need?
No credential environment variables were found in its source, so it appears to need none.
How current is this page?
The grade is for one exact copy of the source (fabb1247b8ff), read on 2026-10-13. The repository is watched and re-audited when it changes.
